Vorbild successfully completed the side extension of the ground floor apartment in Kilburn, UK, and its internal refurbishment. Additional to their original living space, the owners wished for a second bathroom and an open plan rear facing the kitchen, the dining room, and the living area, facing the beautiful garden.
The apartment located on the ground floor, formerly had a front facing sitting room, two bedrooms facing the back of the house and a small galley kitchen.
After getting the permission for the planned side extension, the architects removed the former rear facing the bay window and joined up the now living and dining area with a kitchen in the new side extension. More, the bedrooms are now at the front of the house, one of them with a new ensuite, and the former the kitchen area has been transformed into the family bathroom.
Additional high-level storage has been created above the ensuite, accessible from both bedrooms.
"We also managed to increase the floor to ceiling height in the rear part of the property by digging further down into the ground." the architects explained.
A classic style white kitchen with glossy furniture has been transformed with the help of a skilled joiner. A new timber flooring graces the corridor and the open space area at the back. The garden is accessible via a new sliding folding door and has also been completely transformed. It has a more welcoming appearance and can be considered a totally urban relaxation oasis.
