The purpose of the project was to creatively transform a semi-industrial 300 m2 space in the center of Barcelona into a living loft for a couple and their daughter.
The interior designers from Standal planned an integral reformation of the previous space by enlarging its dimensions and adding a new floor to the construction.
The first step was to consolidate the second floor with a metallic structure and strong wood piling. The final distribution of the loft includes 1 open kitchen and the dining room, 1 living room, 2 bedrooms with bathrooms, and an outdoor garden of approximately 16 m2 in the back of the residence.
The kitchen was divided into two parts. One of them hosts the cooking area, the appliances, and the pantry while the other zone is dominated by a shiny island counter that has been polished in black marble in order to create a mirror effect and gives a unique touch to the entire space.
Another specific element of the kitchen's design it's the large wooden table placed on an iron frame.
The attention given to the lighting can be identified all over the redecorated loft. Natural light comes into the open kitchen through the two stylish balconies. For the cooking area, there has been allocated specific lighting. Industrial lamps illuminate the island counter while lamps at different levels and colors hang over the dining table.
The kitchen was separated from the living room through a staircase that continues the ceiling made of warm wood which reflects the natural light entering on the industrial windows in new york style.
The living space beautifully integrates the industrial character of the house by keeping the old pipes for decoration purposes, beams that support the roof and exposed white painted bricks.
The interior designers decorated a relax zone with handmade mats while the living room is dominated by a single large sofa.
In the main bedroom, different materials stand out together with the impressive contrast between distinct shades and colors. The innovative decor includes a projection screen attached to the roof for the couple to watch movies right from the bed.
The daughter's bedroom is all about different heights and volumes: the staircase separates the sleeping area from a small relaxation space furnished with a cosy sofa. The decoration followed a classical children's style, in light shades and decals on the walls.
